Bulldog Drummond’s Revenge
3160. BULLDOG DRUMMOND’S REVENGE (1937-USA). With JOHN BARRYMORE, JOHN HOWARD, REGINALD DENNY. Captain Hugh “Bulldog” Drummond is set to wed the love of his life, Phyllis Clavering. He has his ring and marriage papers, railway tickets, flowers and hotel accommodations. Nothing could possibly stop his plans as he and his beloved momentarily will be off from London to Paris and Geneva where they will spend the honeymoon of a lifetime. Before departing, Drummond stops by Scotland Yard to visit his inspector friend, Colonel J.A. Nielson. As Drummond awaits Nielson, the colonel meets with a foreign contact. The latter reports to Nielson on the activities of Sir John, a scientist who has invented a super-explosive chemical that will be used in the production of airplane bombs. The chemical is so powerful that just a small amount is enough to blow Westminster Abbey into the North Sea! Sir John is about to fly to France to confer with chemists about his invention. Nielson is especially disturbed because Sir John’s experiments are supposed to have been top-secret. Furthermore, his contact declares that an attempt will be made to steal the supply of the chemical which Sir John will be bringing to France. Of course, this is precisely what happens. Anyone who bets that Drummond soon will find himself immersed in an entertaining and scintillating mystery-one which is fated to alter his wedding plans-will be betting to win. 56 minutes.
