1908. THE FLUSTERED COMEDY Of LEON ERROL: VOLUME IV (1935-1945-USA). With LEON ERROL, VIVJAN TOBIN, DOROTHY GRANGER, CHESTER CLUTE, JASON ROBARDS, SR.
1. WHO’S A DUMMY? (1941-USA). Leon’s wife Vivian is starring in a community theater proÂduction Of something called “Double Trouble.” She fears that her better half will protest and has decided not to inform him Of her extracurricular activity. What follows is a frenzied burlesque in which Viv is forced to go to every extreme to conceal the truth from an increasingly suspicious Leon (who, Of course, will end up misconstruing a rehearsal for real life).
2. LET’5 GO STEPPING (1945-USA). When it comes to dancing, Leon claims that he has two left feet; he would rather smoke his smelly cigar than practice with wife Dorothy Granger. Enter Leon’s look alike brother Roger (also played by Errol), who advises his sibling that he had better take his mate to a nightclub, pronto, or his marriage will be in jeopardy. The laughs pile up as Leon dons toupee and takes Dorothy for a whirl which she (and he) won’t soon forget.
3. THE GRANTLAND RICE SPORTL1GHT: HOLLYWOOD HOBBIES (1935-USA). Narrated by TED HUSING. This one is a must for stargazers. It includes candid footage Of RICHARD ARLEN taking his morning swimming workout; BORIS KARLOfF playing field hockey with other members Of Hollywood’s British colony; CHARLES FARRELL playing tennis as handily as a pro; BUSTER CRABBE effortlessly swimming several laps; CLARK GABLE and JACK HOLT shooting skeet and being photographed by JAMES GLEASON; and, finally, GUY KIBBEE, FRANK CRAVEN, WALTER HUSTON and GRANTLAND RICE teeing Off (and clowning around) on the golf course.
4. LEW LEHR’S DRIBBLE-PUSS PARADE: MONKIES IS THE CWAZIEST PEOPLE! (1944-USA). There’s plenty Of monkey business in this corny (but, nonetheless, endearing) short featuring footage Of apes driving cars and fixing tires; performing aerial acts; repairing clocks; building holiÂday toys; brushing their teeth; fishing; eating ice cream cones; playing in a band; and even escortÂing a little girl lo a circus and giving a man a shave! 54 minutes total.
