In two brief reels he manages to concisely and movingly tell a story of love and envy, tenderness and longing. The first film Biograph promoted as double length; i.e. two reels long. THE GIRL AND HER TRUST (1912- USA). Directed by D.W. GRIFFITH. A young telegraph operator named Grace is courted by (and responds in different ways to) two very different men. This “story of the early West.” Shows even more camera movement and features a surprisingly large cast. Action and atmosphere blend perfectly in this mini-epic. BOLD BANK ROBBERY (1904-USA). Produced by the LUBIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY. This intriguing short was filmed on location on the streets of Philadelphia. It is the story of three “gentlemen” who attempt a quick withdrawal. SHE WOULD BE AN ACTRESS (1909-USA). Produced by the LUBIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY. An ambitious, yet not very talented woman emotes as she studies a book titled “How To Become An Actress.” DRUNKARD’S CHILD (1909-USA). Produced by the LUBIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY. This touching short tells the story of the cripple who earns his pennies by selling newspapers. Everyday cruelty is a part of his life and the result will tug at your heartstrings. An early use of camera movement! AN UNEXPECTED GUEST (1909-USA). Produced by the LUBIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY. Robert and Alice are in love and plan to wed.
