Vengeance Valley

2913. VENGEANCE VALLEY (1951-USA). COLOR. With BURT LANCASTER, ROBERT WALKER, JOANNE DRU, SALLY FORREST, JOHN IRELAND, RAY COLLINS, HUGH O’BRIAN. This hard-hitting western drama features an all-star cast, and vividly tells the story of two very different young men. The first is Owen Daybright, an orphan who was taken in years earlier by rancher Arch Stroble. Owen is the foreman of Arch’s ranch. He is a solid citizen, at once kindly and heroic. Owen is contrasted to Lee Stroble, his foster brother. Lee is as irresponsible and hot-headed as Owen is stable and compassionate. He is not quite the man Owen is, a fact which he deeply resents. Two women come to play major roles in the story. The first is Jen Stroble, Lee’s beautiful new back-country wife. Both Owen and Arch hope that Jen will help settle Lee down. The second is Lily, who as the film opens gives birth to a baby out of wedlock. One of her brothers has already arrived on the scene and he soon will be followed by another. Both are intent on gaining vengeance for their sister’s besmirched honor. Owen, Lee and all of these other characters come together, resulting in a volatile drama that will hold your interest from its first moments to last. 82 minutes. Western
