and Snuffy Smith, the popular comic strip characters. Bud Duncan plays the pint-size
bulbous-nosed, thick wilted Snuffy Smilh, U.S. Army buck private. Snuffy is forever rattling the
nerves Of Sergeant Gatling (perfectly played by Edgar Kennedy, master Of the slow burn). Gatling
and Smith are dispatched to Tennessee’s Big Smokey Mountains where they are posted on
special assignment to guard a radioactive rocket. Once there, the down-home humor hits more
than a few high notes as this duo must contend with some spies who have come to
sabotage the rocket. Also on the scene and adding to the mirth is Barney Google, Smith’s cigar
smoking cousin, who is DeBeck’s most celebrated creation. 63 minutes.
