Marihuana

1109. MARIHUANA (1936-USA). With MARLEY WOOD, HUGH McARTHUR, PAT CARLYLE. Fans Of Reefer
Madness beware! “Did you know that the use Of marihuana is steadily increasing among the youth Of the country? And that it gives the user false courage and destroys the conscience, thereby making crime alluring and smart? This story is drawn from an actual case history.” And what a story it is! A high school girl doesn’t know she’s heading down the road to ruin when she and her pals are befriended by a sharp drug dealer who invites them to a party at his beach house. Soon everyone has been turned on to ‘giggle weed,” the party gels wild and a girl is drowned during a moonlight swim. Our innocent heroine later finds herself pregnant and turns to the dealer for help when her boyfriend is killed. He puts the child up for adoption and she enters a life Of crime, pushing dope and sinking lower and lower as the years go by-oh my! Bad acting, a wildly melodramatic story, a handsomely oily villain and a laughably old group Of actors playing high schoolers make this a camp delight. 57 minutes. Exploitation Drama
