2889. MEETING THE CHALLENGE (1946-USA) COLOR. A film produced by The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad boasting of “deluxe equipment, courteous service, good food and on-time dependability.” The B&O hauled coal, lots of it for the steel mills of Pittsburgh and the railroads of America. It served all kinds of industries in countless ways with 2000 locomotives and 50 engine terminals. It all began with “The Lafayette” and 13 miles of track. By the time this film was made, “The Royal Blue” was traveling between New York and Washington with the motto, “B&O…the way to go!” There were even stewardess-nurses and radio-telephones on board.
