Television Is Ready For You

2484. TELEVISION…IS READY FOR YOU! (1952,1953,1954). Three views through the TV screen into the programming of the 1950s.
1. TELEVISION (1952). A short film, narrated by DAVE GARROWAY, telling (and showing) the many benefits to be had by owning a new television receiver, included are glimpses of KUKLA, FRAN and OLLIE, ROY ROGERS, WRESTLERS, GROUCHO MARX, ARTURO TOSCANINI, and many other shows. As Dave says, Television has a new world to bring you!”
2. CARSON’S CELLAR (November, 1953) KNXT-TV, Los Angeles. With JOHNNY CARSON doing the kind of monologue he would perfect over the next forty years, appearing in drag to stuff a turkey (of course, he would never wear a funny costume again) and doing a satire called “Take It Or Nothing,” with guest JACK BAILEY (who’s named “Schnook For A Day”).
3. THE JACK PAAR SHOW (c .July, 1954) CBS-TV net. The first show of the series, with JACK PAAR, BETTY CLOONEY, CLARK DENNIS and PUPI CAMPO (“I could have been the most famous man on TV…if only I married Lucille Ball!”). A funny show as Jack makes gift suggestions and gives advice to viewers.
